What Blue Frog Wellness Is All About

We all encounter struggles in life; be it physical aches and pains, mental or emotional difficulties. Although these struggles likely have purpose, Blue Frog Wellness firmly believes that we don’t have to suffer in life as much as we do. Underlying all physical, mental and emotional issues are weaknesses in our energy which are preventing the smooth flow of life.

There are a number of tools that allow Blue Frog Wellness to identify energetic blockages and weaknesses and to shift them, facilitating a change within you. Our aim is to reduce your suffering on all levels and allow you to thrive in life, opposed to merely surviving!

Blue Frog Wellness utilizes multiple methods of treatment that synergistically facilitate the natural healing process within you.

Vanessa’s intuitive abilities coupled with her strong science background gives her a well balanced capacity to facilitate change as she views any given ailment from multiple perspectives.

Intuition

When Vanessa was 18 years old she stopped someone in distress from committing suicide. A man had a leather noose around his neck attached an overpass bridge railing and was about to jump when Vanessa and a friend encountered the man. Vanessa felt compelled to investigate and offer help. Vanessa and her friend were able to contact the police and kept the man company until police arrived. That was when Vanessa realized that not everyone has the gift of listening and feeling as keenly as she does.

Car Accident

In 1998 Vanessa was involved in a serious car accident. She was broadsided by a semi-truck carrying two loads of lumber who ran a red light on a highway intersection. An off-duty police officer called for help and EMS were on scene in minutes. Vanessa appreciated the quick and kind assistance and their efforts. Later that evening, after Vanessa was released from hospital, the off-duty police officer called her parents to offer their condolences. Vanessa vividly remembers her mother telling the police officer that Vanessa was indeed alright and sitting on the couch in the next room. The officer was amazed and claimed that was the worst accident he had ever seen anyone walk away from. This was when Vanessa first realized the impacts that a first responder must experience and sought to find ways to help first responders minimize their workplace trauma.

Ironically, this accident is how Vanessa got into Acupuncture. She visited an acupuncturist three months post-accident as a pinched nerve in her shoulder where the seatbelt had been was still causing pain. In two acupuncture treatments, this pain vanished and Vanessa loved going for acupuncture. She felt more aligned, clearer, calmer and yet more energized. Her body felt physically better and Vanessa knew that the acupuncture regulated her emotions as well and allowed her to forgive the driver who ran the red light and move on with her life.

Vanessa’s Strengths

Vanessa has always been able to intuitively listen to her own energy and the energy of others and it is Vanessa’s ability to calmly act on this intuition that facilitates positive change. Energy work is essentially that – intuition and intention. So when you are struggling, in panic or crisis, Vanessa can identify the roots of your struggles and calmly shift them allowing greater ease in you.

Vanessa’s ultimate goal is to enable you to become less entrenched in struggles so you may live your best life. Vanessa wants to see people thriving rather than merely surviving! In her view, nothing is more rewarding than seeing people lighter, happier, freer, living a life they love! This is Vanessa’s passion and purpose in life!

YYC Acupuncture Relief Project (YARP)

In June 2013, Calgary and Southern Alberta experienced the worst flooding in province history. Over 100,000 people were displaced as evacuation notices we given during the state of emergency. Many homes were lost, and seemingly insurmountable damage done. Clean-up operations have been exhausting and overwhelming for many folks and recovery of our city and surrounding area has been lengthy.

It is in this time of need local acupuncturists formed a group called YYC Acupuncture Relief Project (YARP). YARP has been administering free ear acupuncture treatments which specifically treat post-traumatic stress to any member of the community be it evacuee, volunteer, first-responder, or anyone suffering from this disaster.

How Does Ear Acupuncture Help Relieve Stress?

The ear is a micro system of the body and the specific points used help alleviate the shock and trauma people have encountered as a result of the flood. The synergistic effects of all five points helps to transition people out of the fight-or-flight stress response and allow their nervous system to balance. Effects are often immediate and can last over a week.

The protocol was formulated by the National Acupuncture Detox Association (NADA) and has been used for over 30 years, all around the world to aid in disaster recovery situations, PTSD treatments, addiction detoxification. After treatment patients report feeling more relaxed, optimistic, calm and focused, that they sleep better, and have less tension, and relief from aches and pains. Please see the National Acupuncture Detox Association (NADA) website for more information.

All volunteer practitioners are local registered acupuncturists (R.Ac) and this project is supported by our professional college, College and Association of Acupuncturists in Alberta (CAAA).

We are also supported by Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB), a non-profit organization that has treated over 20,000 people following disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, California Wildfires, Arizona Shootings, Oklahoma School Shootings, and Iowa Floods.

Clinic Locations: All YARP Clinics are now closed.
